Where to stay with your family in Norway
There is an abundance of different accommodation options to enjoy on a family holiday in Norway, whether it’s a remote mountain cottage or a sleek city hotel.
In more rural locations, there are some gorgeous, cosy cabins with a multitude of different rooming configurations, perfect for multi-generational family groups. And right on the water too, so plenty of swimming opportunities (albeit somewhat fresh).
In the city, family suites are rare, and swimming pools are even harder to come by. Two separate rooms tends to be the norm here. Note also that whilst we may have aspirations of classy Scandi-chic, the reality is that many Norwegian hotels are slightly closer to Soviet-era Brutalism. Public rooms often convey a certain style, yet the actual bedrooms are usually ‘space-challenged’ (particularly with children and luggage), with limited additional facilities.

Fjærland Fjordstove Hotel
Step back in time at this quintessential storybook hotel in a peaceful, remote location. Find historic rooms, homemade cakes, fjord views to the front, and mountains and glaciers to the rear. Paddle kayaks or SUPs from the doorstep, or steam off in the floating sauna – then brace yourself with an icy dip. This is fjordlife at its best.
Cabin on the Edge
Possibly the most extraordinary location you will ever sleep in. This simple, off-grid self-catering cabin is perched in a dramatic spot, overlooking a fjord. Much loved by every family that stays here. Hot tub and barbecue ‘on the edge’ – and yes, even a toilet with a view!

Luster Fjord cabins. Yes, we’ve got our favourites, as you can see from above, however, we will use our years of experience to recommend places that truly suit your family.
Essentially our job is to ascertain your priorities – whether it’s luxury, budget, connecting rooms or long beds for tall teens – and then find the best places to suit. We do the legwork and find the perfect properties, and you can just turn up and enjoy them!
