What our customers say
Asia family holidays
Asia is dizzyingly vast and its possibilities are intoxicating. Somewhere in Asia is suited to each school holiday, with a match for every family. A good place to start is our bestseller Sri Lanka. Renowned for the warmth of its people, it also delights families with leopard-tracking in national parks, atmospheric ruins dating back two millennia, hikes through tea plantations, and surf beaches –and that’s only skimming the surface.
Also on the subcontinent, India is a dreamy mix of desert adventures, maharajahs’ palaces and epic wildlife encounters, while Nepal stands out for its trekking but also beckons with whitewater rafting, paragliding, and more out-of-this-world animal sightings.
Thailand is another classic for Asia family holidays – one known for its blissful beaches but also bringing to the mix elephant sanctuaries, muay Thai boxing lessons, and meetings with hill tribes. Vietnam is fabulous for history buffs, but you can also zip-line into caves, kayak from a junk in Halong Bay and browse lantern-lit night markets.
Neighbouring Cambodia is just as evocative, with the world’s largest temple complex (the inspiration for Tomb Raider), as well as Mekong dolphin-spotting trips, jungle waterfalls and lessons in spicy Khmer cuisine. And Laos just has to be seen to be believed: an under-the-radar riot of colour and life, from tuk-tuk rides to meeting monks going about their daily lives.
Further east still, Borneo and Malaysia enchant with ancient rainforest, orangutans and pygmy elephants, but also with urban hawker stalls and batik painting. Bali is incredibly popular with families for its beaches, temples and bike rides, but adding on other parts of Indonesia will reward you with encounters with Komodo dragons and ‘sea gypsies’, among other thrills.
Japan never fails to enthrall anyone who goes there – one visit can never be enough to get to the bottom of its vast array of unique experiences ranging from samurai sessions to bathing in onsen hot springs, from bullet-train rides to noodle-bar feasts in the neon-lit heart of Tokyo.
And at the other extreme lies Mongolia, a world apart – one where you can escape modern life if only for a time, riding yak carts, hunting for dino fossils, swapping stories around the campfire, and sleeping under the stars. In short – bliss!
