Vietnam family holidays
If you want colour, history, spectacle, markets, scenery, beaches, sensational food and twenty million motorbikes, a family holiday to Vietnam is the perfect choice. The country is embracing the 21st century but somehow also retains an enchanting sense of mystery and the exotic.
Contrasts are everywhere. Communism still rules but capitalism seems to be thriving as friendly old ladies hawk tropical fruit from lively markets, then pull out a state of the art mobile to touch base with home, and nattily dressed office workers stop by the temple on the way home to burn incense and connect with their ancestors.
Why take the kids?
Some of our favourite things to do with the children on a Vietnam family holiday are:
- Touring the streets of old Hanoi by cycle rickshaw
- Cycling through paddy fields and small villages
- Crawling through the Cu Chi tunnels
- Swimming and kayaking from a traditional junk in Halong Bay
- Shopping at a night market lit by traditional lanterns
- Learning to cook delicious local dishes
- Taking a zip-line into a vast cave
There is genuinely something for the whole family. Of course, the beach will appeal to children, but they will also love the chaos of the cities, the activities in the countryside, and the friendly welcome.
See our Vietnam with Kids blog which features some of our favourite family-friendly activities, with photos and more.
