Where to stay with your family in Morocco
Morocco has perfected the art of family accommodation, with outstanding options at every turn. We offer a huge choice, from exquisite riads with cosy inner courtyards in the heart of a bustling city to stylish camps in the middle of the desert with their own swimming pools.
Returning home after a hilltop trek, there are comfortable mountain lodges with traditional Moorish décor and ancient Berber fortresses converted to opulent kasbahs, complete with hammam spa. Families find that a coastal retreat is the perfect finishing point for their Moroccan adventure, with water-based activities, camel rides and beach clubs – truly something for everyone.
It’s useful to know that many Moroccan hotels are especially well set up for family groups, offering spacious suites or large rooms with day-sofas that convert into beds for smaller children.
Family-friendly hotels in Morocco
Here is just a selection of places we recommend, where we know you’ll receive the warm welcome for which Morocco is renowned.
Riad Anya & Spa, Marrakech
With hundreds of riads to choose from in Marrakech, this is our favourite mid-range option, although mid-range hardly does this charming hotel justice. A central courtyard with dip pool, gorgeous roof terrace and cosy, beautifully decorated rooms in a superb location with the main Djemma al Fna Square only 5 minutes away. A true oasis of calm.
Azzaden Trekking Lodge, Imil
Overnight trekking in the Atlas Mountains is a popular family activity. However think beyond sleeping on a mattress on the floor and shared facilities. En suite rooms, a wood burning stove and a spectacular terrace allow you to stay right in the heart of the Atlas Mountains, without having to compromise on accommodation.
Inara Camp, Agafay
Experience a night in the desert – in style. With many camps to choose from in the Agafay Desert just outside of Marrakech, this is our family favourite. Elegant, en suite tents (with family options), camel and horse rides, quads and e-bikes, delicious cuisine and best of all, two heated pools.
Hyatt Regency Taghazout, Taghazout
After time spent bartering in the souks and trekking in the mountains and desert, we know that all familes want to head to the beach. Or the pool. This 5* resort has everything on their wish list including surfing, Padel, a beach club and a kids camp – and is less than an hour from Agadir airport.
La Maison Arabe, Marrakech
For higher budgets, we recommend this luxurious boutique riad hotel. Breakfast al fresco around the pool is the perfect start to the day, kids will love the international menu of The Rooftop whilst parents relax with cocktails in the Piano Bar. And all can enjoy a cookery class at the hotel’s renowned cooking school!
Why book Morocco with Stubborn Mule?
At Stubborn Mule, our entire focus is on arranging holidays for families. This means that we have a completely exhaustive knowledge of which hotels work best when travelling with children. It’s the subtle differences that really matter; knowing which hotels have larger suite style rooms with a close-but-separate sleeping area for kids. It’s knowing which hotels can provide a travel cot and a room with a balcony so that parents can put younger kids to bed and then sit safely nearby to enjoy the evening. It’s knowing which hotels have facilities that teens will enjoy, and proximity of local restaurants and shopping.
When we help you plan your holiday, we will ensure that we include accommodation that we know you and your children will love. Get in touch to find out more.
