New Zealand

New Zealand pricing guide

All our holidays are individual and tailored to you and your family. The exact price of your tour will, therefore, vary depending on a wide range of factors including season, how many of you there are, what level of accommodation you want to stay in, whether you stay in one large family room or have children and adults in separate rooms and what category of rental vehicle you prefer.

Please be aware that pre-booking tours is essential during peak season so we strongly advise including as many activities as possible in advance although this will of course have a knock-on effect on the final price. This is also essential in order to secure reasonably priced flights.

Please also be aware that the weather can be extremely changeable in New Zealand and activities can often be cancelled at short notice.

Whilst most of our New Zealand family holidays operate on a self-drive basis, it is possible to arrange private transfers between select locations. Equally a journey along one of the famous scenic train routes might appeal. Please discuss your personal preferences with us and we can suggest the best options.

Price guidelines

To give you a guideline, a two-week holiday for a family of four to New Zealand would usually cost from £15,000 (excluding flights) based on self-drive, including a wide range of activities.

If you want to stay in more upscale resorts, the price for a two-week holiday in New Zealand would start at around £18,000.

A three-week holiday for a family of four to New Zealand would usually cost from £22,500 (excluding flights) based on self-drive and again including a wide range of activities.

If you want to stay in more upscale resorts, the price for a three-week holiday in New Zealand would start at around £25,000.

International flights

All prices exclude international and internal flights. These start from £1,300 per person but will rise significantly closer to travel. If you are thinking of travelling at Christmas, we strongly urge you to book your flights as early as possible. We will be very happy to provide a flight quote for you from your nearest airport. Please ask us for details of these and stopover suggestions.

Age limits

There are no age limits on our tours and we will tailor the itinerary to the ages of your children. Due to their nature, many activities in New Zealand have minimum age (or height) requirements – we will always check these before including them in an itinerary for your family.

Financial protection

Rest assured that you have 100% financial protection if you book with us, as we are members of the Travel Trust Trade (membership number Q0176). All monies paid to us by you are deposited into a trust account and the funds are only released to Stubborn Mule after you have completed your holiday. We also have ATOL membership, number T7608. More details can be found on our financial protection page.

Next step

All you need to do is let us know a few key details about you and your family and we will do the rest. After a chat to understand more about you, we can produce an itinerary as a starting point and you can review this as many times as you need to until we get it just right
