When to go to Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe is best visited from April to October when it is dry and warm during the daytime. As the seasons are the inverse of the northern hemisphere, our summer is their winter, meaning that temperatures can drop in the evenings. However, you should always have blue skies and sunny days throughout July and August so it’s a fantastic time to go. The wet summer season, from December to March, can be very warm and there will be rainfall, however, the Green Season means lower prices, and the plains look lush and verdant at this time of year.
Wildlife sightings are good year round but for peak game viewing the months of August to October are incredible with huge herds of elephants seeking to quench their thirst at the waterholes. The best time to see Victoria Falls is after the rainy season when the Falls are at their fullest – May to July – and the volume of water cascading down into the river below is at its peak. During the dry season, less water flows over the cataracts but the panoramic views are incredible.
January
This is the peak rainy season. Typically, rain comes in dramatic storms, but the before and after is quite likely to be sunny.
February
This is the peak rainy season. It will be very warm with the chance of afternoon thunderstorms, getting around can be trickier due to localised flooding.
March
The rainy season is starting to wind down and by the end of the month there is little rain left, perhaps just some short showers.
April
The weather is getting much drier now. Temperatures are decreasing but it should still be mid-20s during the daytime.
May
The start of the dry season. Temperatures are decreasing but it should still be mid-20s during the daytime. Water levels are high in the Zambezi River and Victoria Falls is at its most spectacular.

This is the cool, dry season. There will generally be good weather throughout the country. Nights and early mornings will be cool but it will still be t-shirt weather in the daytime with lovely blue skies and sunshine. Water levels are high in the Zambezi River and Victoria Falls is at its most spectacular.

October
This is one of the hottest months of the year, wildlife sightings will be incredible as the animals are all desperate for water but it can reach 40 degrees.
