Where to stay in Croatia

Croatia has a firmly established tourist industry and a corresponding breadth of accommodation across the country. Along the coast, there are ‘classic’ beach resorts with lots of facilities, while in the pretty towns that dot the Dalmatian Coast, there are smaller heritage properties that ooze charm.

In addition to this, some parts of the country (notably Zadar) offer comfortable apartments which are ideal for families. We will suggest the right blend of accommodation for your family, according to your budget. Often this will be a mixture of different accommodation types, perhaps with an apartment at times, but then finishing in a more classic beach resort for a bit of R and R.

What are different kinds of accommodation like in Croatia?

Dubrovnik offers a good example of the different kinds of accommodation that are on offer in Croatia. If you want to be right in the thick of things, we can arrange an apartment in the Old Town. However, whilst this can initially sound appealing, most families prioritise access to a swimming pool in the hot summer months, and this is not possible within the Old Town. You might therefore choose to stay somewhere like the lovely Sun Gardens, a fantastic family-friendly hotel about 25 minutes outside the town.

The hotel has an ideal beachfront location and multiple pools where you can cool off after a day wandering the city walls. There’s also a spa and sports centre, as well as flexible family accommodation including residences with up to three bedrooms and even a villa with five bedrooms, for those travelling with larger broods.

On the other hand, if you are trying to keep an eye on budget, you might opt for the friendly Hotel Lero, just a 20-minute walk from the Old Town. Whilst this hotel is relatively simple, it’s clean and comfortable with a genuinely warm welcome, and there’s a small swimming pool which can be a godsend.

There are of course plenty of other options and we will discuss what will suit your family.
