Costa Rica itineraries

Costa Rica is our most popular destination, we send hundreds of families there all year. So we know it extremely well!  It has a number of micro-climates, meaning that certain parts are better visited at different times of year. In July and August, you can see turtles come ashore to lay their eggs in Tortuguero on the Caribbean coast. At Christmas and Easter, we usually concentrate itineraries on the west of the country to make the most of the sunshine.

All itineraries feature the adrenaline heart of Costa Rica, La Fortuna, at the base of the famous Arenal Volcano. Here you can enjoy zip-wiring through the jungle, gentle float trips, white water rafting, cacao tours, horse-riding in volcanic highlands and even canyoning before heading to the beach for some R&R.

In all cases, the itinerary will be tailored to your family. Those with older children may want plenty of action, whereas those with younger children may want to spend longer at the beach and have a slower pace.

Whilst many of our families embrace the freedom of self-drive, you can also enjoy private transfers (avoiding any ‘navigational discussions’). For those who want to explore Central America further, you can hop over to Panama or head north to discover the cultural delights of the increasingly popular Nicaragua.

Do get in touch as soon as you are ready to start planning or if you’d like to talk with someone with firsthand knowledge of routes, accommodation, activities and which national parks to visit. Don’t be too sloth-like though – Costa Rica is such a popular destination that our preferred accommodation and the best airfares get snapped up quickly. Give us a call!
