Family safari pricing guide

All of our safari holidays are completely bespoke, which means that there is a wide variation in cost depending on the ages of your children, your choice of accommodation/activities, and so on. However, it’s useful to have a general idea of what your family safari might cost, so that you can compare different destinations and see which is most likely to suit.

The guidelines below are all estimates for the price of a typical two-week safari holiday for a family of four. Flight prices from the UK are given separately and are based on travel in school holidays. Pricing is based on a standard itinerary in the country, using classic accommodation. Luxury options are, of course, available at additional cost.

Note that some destinations, particularly Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe, suit a slightly shorter trip. This is partly due to cost and partly because 8-9 days of ‘pure safari’ is usually ideal for a family, and these countries offer no really easy beach add-on. Therefore, for these countries, a standard 8-9 day safari price is also given.

Price guidelines

Kenya: Classic safari and beach holiday from £18,000 + £3,800 for flights.

Tanzania: Classic safari and beach holiday from £18,000 + £6,000 for flights.

South Africa: Classic holiday (with 3 days safari) from £14,000 + £4,600 for flights.

Botswana: Classic safari from £30,000 plus £6,000 for flights.
Note: This is for a two-week trip for ease of comparison. However, many families choose to go for a shorter period to Botswana. Our 8-day Botswana Highlights & Vic Falls is from £17,000 plus £6,000 for flights.

Namibia: Classic holiday (with 3-5 days safari) from £17,000 plus £5,500 for flights.

Zimbabwe: Classic safari from £24,000 plus £5,500 for flights.

Malawi: Classic holiday (with 6-day safari) from £24,000 plus £5,500 for flights.

Zambia: Classic safari from £28,000 plus £5,500 for flights.

Financial protection

Rest assured that you have 100% financial protection if you book with us, as we are members of the Travel Trust Association (membership number Q0176). All monies paid to us by you are deposited into a trust account and the funds are only released to Stubborn Mule after you have completed your holiday. We also have ATOL membership, number T7608.
