When to go to Oman
The best time to go to Oman is between October and March, when it is dry and warm. From April to September it will be extremely hot and although travel is possible during this time, you must be prepared for some searingly hot temperatures. Itineraries are adapted accordingly, with sightseeing planned first thing in the morning or in the later afternoon when it is not so hot.
January
This is an ideal time to visit. Plenty of sunshine and blue skies without being too hot. There may be some rain in the mountains but not elsewhere. Average Muscat temperatures 17˚C -25˚C.
February
This is an ideal time to visit. There may be some rain in the mountains but it should be dry and sunny everywhere else. Average Muscat temperatures 17˚C – 27˚C.
March
This is an ideal time to visit with lots of sunshine and blue skies. Average Muscat temperatures 20˚C – 29˚C.
April
The Easter Holidays are a great time to visit with lots of sunshine and blue skies. By the end of April it is starting to get very hot. Average Muscat temperatures 24˚C – 34˚C.
May
The weather is starting to get very hot, particularly in the desert. Average Muscat temperatures 28˚C – 39˚C.
June
This is the hottest month of the year and temperatures will be too hot for many people. Average Muscat temperatures 30˚C – 40˚C. There is also the possibility of sandstorms.
July
Average Muscat temperatures 29˚C – 38˚C. This is a very hot month and temperatures in the desert are stifling. There is also the possibility of sandstorms.
August
Average Muscat temperatures 28˚C – 36˚C. This is a very hot month and temperatures in the desert are very high. There is also the possibility of sandstorms.
September
Average Muscat temperatures 26˚C – 35˚C. This is a very hot month and temperatures in the desert are very high.
October
The heat of the summer has dissipated and October Half Term is a great time to visit. Average Muscat temperatures 24˚C – 35˚C.
November
This is a great time to visit. Average Muscat temperatures 20˚C – 30˚C.
December
This is a great time to visit. There may be the odd bit of rain in the mountains but the weather should be generally dry and sunny. Average Muscat temperatures 18˚C – 27˚C.
