When to go to Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka can be visited at any time of year and is always warm or hot. There are in fact two monsoons that hit the country but the one that affects travellers is the South West monsoon, which causes very humid weather in April and brings rain in May and June. However it is possible to visit Sri Lanka even during the monsoon as it often only rains briefly (albeit heavily) and the rest of the day can be beautiful.
Note that in recent years Sri Lanka has resolutely failed to follow its usual patterns, with rain coming at all different times of year. So bring both an umbrella and your sunscreen and be prepared for whatever the skies decide to send your way. The information in our weather chart should only be seen as a guide to when to go to Sri Lanka.
