Mongolia was great, we were all really sad to leave. Our driver and guide where great, we became a little traveling family. I’m not sure if it was leaving Mongolia or leaving them behind that made us so sad…. but we’re all now Facebook friends.

Overall, the trip was very good, well organised and we had a great time. The scenery was fantastic. Our driver (Ganba) was fantastic too and knew exactly what he was doing and our tour assistant (Pujee) was lovely and worked very hard. It took a few days to get into the pace of the trip as its not at all action packed.

There were very good horse riding opportunities on our trip. Horses are much smaller than we’re used to and are not particularly tame. But the Horseman look after you, often not letting you off a lead.  Also good opportunities to go camel riding. In contrast the camels are really huge and also lots of fun and were much more comfortable than we’d imagined.

The vans were very good and comfortable. Definitely don’t take any hard suitcases as these would be tricky to find anywhere to fit them in.

We’d recommend taking almost everything suggested on your packing list!

Be warned, toilets, in a word, are rather terrible! Best ones are those when you camp… a hole with a wrap around ‘loo tent’ and trowel.

We’ve arrived back home after our amazing trip! Looking at our mountain of washing (and smelling it!) I can say we got fully immersed into the Mongolian lifestyle of dust, airag and camel spit ;0). The landscapes we camped in, the culture we were able to experience, the food we tasted, the people we met was just beyond our expectations. Our children will have an imprint of Mongolia in their minds for a lifetime. It opened up their minds and eyes, so much so that they were really sad to leave.

I am in touch with World Vision (through Ariunaa’s husband) and L and T will sponsor 2 Mongolian girls!

The van added to the Mongolian feeling and somehow time flew in the backseats. It was actually really nice to wind down and read, look at the landscape and have no time stress.
