Madagascar

When to go to Madagascar

Broadly speaking, the best time to visit Madagascar is in its winter season, from May to October. This works well with most European families who generally like to take a long-haul holiday during the European summer. At this time, it will be warm and sunny in the day (plenty hot enough to enjoy some time on the beach) but cooler (…to cold) in the early morning and evenings, particularly in the highlands.

Generally, the weather in the south of the country is much drier than elsewhere as it is an arid semi-desert region. The east is the wettest part of the country, as you would expect given that much of it is covered in rainforest. In terms of school holidays, Easter and summer are probably best, but Christmas can also work well as long as you avoid certain areas.
