When to go to Peru
Peru has such a varied topography that it is difficult to pinpoint the best time to visit. However, assuming that the majority of your holiday will be spent in the Andes or the Amazon, the best time of year in these areas is from April to October. During this period it will usually be warm and dry, although it can get very cold in the mountains at night. From December to March this area will be fairly wet which can impede your mountain views.
Having said this, it can rain at any time of year so you should come prepared with a rain jacket just in case.
Lima and the coast is generally hot but can be covered in a thick coastal fog from May to September. The best time to visit this area is from December to April when it is dry and sunny, but as you are unlikely to spend too much time here, we suggest that you are guided more by the weather in the mountains and the Amazon.
January
This is the wet season in both the Amazon and the mountains so be prepared for there to be rain although this may be interspersed with some sunshine. Along the coast, including Lima, this is summer and there should be lots of sunshine.

March

The rains are starting to come to an end in the Amazon so there should be longer stretches of sun. Along the coast, including Lima, this is the tail end of summer so it should be sunny and warm.
