Highlights of Cuba
This example 10-day itinerary is a short introduction to the best of Cuba. You start with the crumbling colonial splendour of Havana, best explored from the back of a classic car or on foot. From here continue to the picture perfect town of Trinidad and take a wander through the cobbled streets. Next up is the exquisite scenery of Vinales, its rolling tobacco fields peppered with huge limestone cliffs and begging to be explored by bike, horse or horse cart, before finishing the tour on a secluded Caribbean island beach. You can choose whether to stay in hotels or casas (Cuban style B&Bs) and whether to self-drive or be accompanied by an English-speaking chauffeur.

10 days from £975 pp

A self-drive 10-day holiday in Cuba for a family of four starts from £3,900 based on casa-style accommodation (excluding international flights).
All our Cuba holidays are individually tailored to you and your family. The exact price of your tour will vary depending on a wide range of factors such as whether you wish to stay in casas (Cuban style B&Bs), heritage hotels or all-inclusive beach resorts, how many of you there are and the exact rooming configuration (usually determined by the ages of your children).
One other major factor in determining the price in Cuba is whether you choose to self-drive, have private transfers or be escorted throughout by a private chauffeur.
As a guideline, a standard two week holiday in Cuba will start from around £5,800 for a family of four, based on accommodation in casas and at a relatively simple beach resort. This excludes international flights and is based on a self-drive itinerary or the use of private transfers.
If you would prefer to be accompanied by a private chauffeur, the price will start from around £6,800 for the same tour.
Cuba also has some beautiful heritage hotels in Havana and some luxury all-inclusive beach resorts on the coast. If you wish to use these, the price of a two week holiday for a family of four will start from £7,500 for a self-drive itinerary and £8,500 for private chauffeur.
All prices exclude international flights. Flights to Cuba from the UK start from around £750 per person but are often considerably more during school holidays so book early. As of 2022 there are no direct flights from London but there are good connections via Madrid.
Flights are available for booking approximately 11 months in advance. If travelling during UK school holidays we suggest that you book your flights as far in advance as possible to get the best fares. Prices will rise considerably the closer to departure that you book.
There are no age limits on our tours and Cuba is suitable even for the youngest children. We will tailor the itinerary accordingly.

Highlights of Cuba day-to-day itinerary
Arrive at the airport where you will be met by a Stubborn Mule Travel representative and taken to your hotel. The rest of the day is free. Havana is a lovely city and is perfect to explore on foot. The old colonial centre has been immaculately restored and you can spend a wonderful couple of hours following the small streets and alleyways to lively cafes, bars and restaurants.
Day 2 Havana
This morning head out in a classic car for a tour of Havana passing by all of the main attractions. You will then continue on foot with your guide, entering into the lovely old streets of the city, which are difficult to access by vehicle. The afternoon is free for you to further explore on your own.
Day 3 Trinidad
In the morning drive to Trinidad, an immaculately preserved Spanish colonial town perched in the hills with stunning views over the surrounding landscape. The town itself is gorgeous, with narrow cobbled streets, beautiful colonial buildings and a wealth of fabulous cafes and restaurants.
The drive takes around four hours and once you arrive, the rest of the day is free to explore the city.
Day 4 Trinidad
A full day either to explore Trinidad itself or perhaps to visit the nearby Topes de Collante nature reserve, a beautiful region of sugar cane fields, coffee plantations and the backdrop of the Escambray mountains. There are a number of waterfalls and you can take a swim in one of the pools. You could also visit Valle de los Ingenios, or the ‘Valley of the Sugar Mills’ which was the centre of Cuba’s sugar producing industry in the 19th century and which remains very well preserved.
Day 5 Trinidad – Vinales
After breakfast set off for Vinales. The journey takes around 6 hours and will pass through the edge of Havana en route to Vinales. This area is home to some of Cuba’s most lovely scenery. Fields of tobacco stretch across the red-earth plains, broken up by steep sided limestone outcrops, palm trees and small villages that are home to tobacco farmers who till the fields with ox ploughs. This really is one of the most beautiful parts of Cuba and you will spend the afternoon exploring.

Transfer to the dock from where you will take a small boat to Cayo Levisa. This small island is located off the northern shore of Cuba, a beautiful place of white sandy beaches, turquoise water and palm trees.
