Where to stay in Australia
The quality and variety of accommodation available in Australia varies widely depending on where you are staying in the country.
What you need to know
As might be expected, the cities offer a real range of options, from stylish luxury urban properties to more regular standard city hotels and everything in between. Moving further into the rural parts of New South Wales, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria, you can find attractive heritage hotels. These might be an old ranch or a winery that offers boutique-style rooms, usually in a very beautiful location.
Once you head to the centre, north and northwest of the country, the range is much more limited. In Uluru for example, the only place to stay is Ayers Rock Resort. This is a large purpose-built tourist village featuring cafes, restaurants and hotels of varying standards, all located within the village. You can choose whether you want 3, 4 or 5 star but they are all located within the same area. (The only uber-luxe option, located outside the village, does not accept children and therefore is not suitable for families).
Most hotels will have a swimming pool and it is generally relatively easy to find a good configuration of rooms for families. This might mean being all in one room in a family suite, or having two connecting rooms.
Given the range of options available, we will discuss with you what you are looking for in a hotel (including your budget, family make-up and personal preferences) and will then suggest hotels to suit.
